How Do I Measure My Seal?

Where exactly do you measure?

For an insert-type seal, there are two important measurements:

Insert measurement (Steckmaß): This is the distance between the inner edges of the seal, where it is inserted into the guide channel.

Outer measurement (Außenmaß): This is the total outer distance of the seal from edge to edge.

For a screw-on seal, the following measurements are relevant:

Plate measurement (Plattenmaß): This is the distance between the mounting plates to which the seal is screwed.

Outer measurement (Außenmaß): This is the total outer distance of the seal from edge to edge.

Use a tape measure or ruler with millimetre markings
Measure several times to avoid mistakes
Note all measurements in millimetres
Make sure the tape measure lies flat and is not twisted
